LAND MANAGEMENT

What is Land Management?  The sum of all business processes the City of Miami engages in to deliver municipal services that encompass:

      Through all phases of construction from:

  • The acquisition of raw land
  • The construction and occupancy of a completed structure

Land Management Project Organization has been organized into three major initiatives:

  • Design and Development of an Enterprise Geographical Information Services Architecture (GIS)
  • Selection and Implementation of Land Management Application Software
  • Review and Re-Design of all Land Management Business Processes (BPR)
     

ERP ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING

What is ERP?  An Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which is a computer system that will enhance our content Finance, Budget, Payroll, Employee Relations, group benefits and grant-tracking activites.

City Objectives:

  • Improved efficiency
  • Improved management of activities and programs
  • Improved decision-making
  • Improved accountability
  • Improved customer Service

Project Objectives:

  • Implement latest version of Oracle’s eBusiness Suite
  • Minimize customization
  • Build on process flows developed by City during BPR Project
  • Implemented in two phases:

    Financial Suite by December 1, 2005
    HR/Payroll Suite by January 1, 2006

     

GIS - GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM

What is GIS?  Centralized GIS architectures enable organizations to take full advantage of relational/object oriented spatial database technologies, to minimize network traffic associated with GIS implementations and to more readily manage the rapidly changing technical environment of GIS.

Project Objectives:

  • To identify a system architecture design strategy for the City of Miami GIS deployment based on projected peak user requirements

CITIZEN PORTAL

The City of Miami is in the process of developing a "Citizen Portal" which will allow citizens to customize their governmental web experience to meet their diverse needs. Some of the features available will include:

  • User registration
  • Personalization
  • Web 2.0 features such as RSS feeds and Wikis
  • Customized 'My Neighborhood' feature

PUBLIC SAFETY

What is Public Safety?  Public Safety provides a variety of core services citywide to support the goal of protecting the City of Miami by promoting a safer community. Public Safety Systems comprise the enterprise suite of Fire and Police systems that allow us to respond effectively and efficiently to all requests for public safety response through 911 or other methods with in the City of Miami on a continuous basis.

311

What is 311? 311 is a customer service and information center for City of Miami and Miami Dade County, where individuals can easily access their local government. If you are requesting service you will receive a tracking number and a time commitment from the department advising when the request will be completed. You can also call 311 to get an update on your request.

The system being used for the 311 Call Center is the Motorola 311 CSR system.
