     The Office of the City Attorney provides legal advice and serves as counsel to the City’s elected public officials as well as all appointed officials, all boards and departments. The legal work provided by attorneys in the Office of the City Attorney includes civil rights and tort litigation, commercial and real estate transactions, land use and regulation, public records, ethics and election law, legislation, labor and employment, workers’ compensation, and code enforcement.

Legal Internship Program

     The Office of the City Attorney offers an excellent opportunity for 2L and 3L law students to participate as interns during the Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters. This is an unparalleled opportunity to explore a career in the challenging practice of municipal law. Students will gain practical legal experience by working closely with attorney supervisors on a variety of substantive legal matters including, civil litigation, land use, labor and employment, commercial and general government law. Students will be expected to comply with their school’s clinical program guidelines.

Summer Law Clerk Program

     The Office of the City Attorney is seeking to employ as clerks, 3L law students for the Summer Semester (May to July). The scope of work includes: advanced legal research and writing, drafting legal memoranda, and providing litigation support services. Clerks will be expected to work a minimum of forty hours a week, and are compensated at the rate of $16.50 per hour.
