8th Annual Back to School Event in Little Haiti

One thousand children will receive backpacks and school supplies to start the new school year

 


(Miami, FL   August 8, 2011)—The Little Haiti Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) Office

 and the Little Haiti Optimist Club will be celebrating on Friday, August 12, 2011, the 8th Annual Back to School event, from 10am – 2pm, at Little Haiti Soccer Park, 6301 NE 2nd Avenue with over 1,000 children who will be treated to a fun filled day.  Backpacks and school supplies will be given to the first 1,000 children, accompanied by an adult, first-come-first served.

 

The event will be tailor made for kids with food and refreshments, bounce houses, face painting and clowns. There will be live entertainment on the WEDR-FM 99 Jamz stage with DJ Griot, Prince Markie Dee, Supa Cindy, Toine Da Done, Felicia Monet, Big Man Kelly and Benji Brown.

 

District 5 Commissioner Richard P. Dunn II who will be participating in the event commented, “As the start of the school year approaches, we want to make sure kids are ready for school with their school gear in place.  We want to thank the community, sponsors and all those who have worked so hard for making this day possible and bringing smiles to these children’s faces.”
