Mayor Tomas Regalado Supports the Black Caucus Resolution Addressing Lack of Jobs in Underserved Communities

(Miami, FL    August 31, 2011)—Offering the opening remarks at the Black Caucus Job Fair held at James L. Knight Center in Downtown Miami on Tuesday August 23, 2011, Mayor Tomas Regalado offered full support of the initiative “For the People” Jobs Initiative (H. Res. 348) to directly address the lack of jobs in underserved communities, like Miami, where the unemployment rate has been higher than the national average.

The city of Miami had a stand with the only workforce website, www.accessmiamijobs.com, present at the Fair.  Attendees were very excited to know such a resource exists created and managed by the city, which receives over 15,000 unique visits per month, with information regarding recent job opportunities, trainings and special events.

City of Miami staff provides information to Job Fair participants on the workforce website created and managed by the city

Over 160 local and national companies and agencies participated in the Fair that was attended by more than 6,000 job seekers.
