Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones Kicks off Wheels of Hope Holiday Toy Drive

 ‘Benefiting children in the community and in Haiti’



(Miami, Florida   November 15, 2011)— This holiday season, the City of Miami is proud to present the first annual Wheels of Hope Holiday Toy Drive. Under the Leadership of Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones, the City of Miami has partnered with Breakfast with Santa of South Florida Inc. to collect toys for underserved children in Miami and in Haiti.

 

The City of Miami will kick off the Wheels of Hope Holiday Toy Drive on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at a cocktail reception, hosted by Commissioner Spence-Jones, Miami Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime and North Miami Mayor Andre D. Pierre, Esq.at the Little Haiti Cultural Center, located at 260 NE 59th Terrace at 6:00 p.m.

·        The Wheels of Hope Holiday Toy Drive will take place from November 17-December 17, 2011. Our goal is to collect over 1000 toys and 500 bikes to distribute to 1500 children during the holiday season. The distribution of toys will take place on Dec 4-5, 2011 in Haiti with a powerful delegation of influential women and on Dec 18, 2011 in Miami at the JW Marriott.

·        Residents can purchase a toy or bike directly through Wal-Mart or donate a new unwrapped toy or bike at the following drop off locations:

·        Miami Police Department Headquarters: 400 N.W. 2nd Ave.

·        Model City Police Substation: 1000 N.W. 62nd St.

·        Little Haiti NET Office: 6301 N.E. 2nd Avenue

·        Model City NET Office: 1000 N.W. 62nd St.

·        Overtown NET Office: 1490 N.W. 3rd Ave.

·        Wynwood NET Office: 1901 N.W. 24th Ave.

 

Wheels of Hope Holiday Toy Drive is supported by: the Office of Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones, the City of Miami Neighborhood Enhancement Team Office (NET), the City of Miami Police Department, DHL, Wal-Mart, Miami Spaces, and Breakfast with Santa of South Florida Inc., Cola Couronne, Leela’s Restaurant and Little Haiti Housing Association.
