Jerry Long, Postmaster Miami to Take Oath of Office December 6, 2011 at Miami City Hall

Mayor Tomas Regalado Will Offer the Welcoming Remarks




(Miami FL    December 5, 2011)--Miami officially will have a new Postmaster as Jerry Long takes the Oath of Office at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 6.  City of Miami Mayor Tomás P. Regalado will be opening the ceremony with welcoming remarks.   United States Postal Service Southwest Area Operations Vice President Linda J. Welch will be administering the oath of office.

As Postmaster Miami, Long is administratively responsible for the 2,215 Postal employees who proudly serve 74,855 business and 655,381 residential customers in the Miami community.  He is responsible for the overall operations for the cities 29 delivery units and 17 finance units and Postal stores. 

After serving three years in the United States Army, Jerry began his Postal career as a city letter carrier in Dallas, Texas.  In 2010, Long joined the South Florida District as the Postmaster Fort Lauderdale.  He is also the Postal Co-Chair for the award winning Miami-Dade County Postal Customer Council (PCC).

Long resides in South Florida.  He has raised four children, Meredith, Quinn, Beth and Jake.
