City of Miami Prepares Students For First Day of School

Miami, FL (August 12,2010) —The City of Miami Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET), Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, City Commission Chariman Marc Sarnoff, and City Commissioners will host the "Back to School We Go" event on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 10:00a.m. in Lummus Park located at 404 NW 3rd Street, Miami.

Over 600 City of Miami Children from Coconut Grove, Flagami, Little Havana, Allapattah and the Upper East Side will be treated to lunch, a backpack giveaway and demonstration from the City of Miami Police mounted and K9 units. The City of Miami Fire, Police and Parks departments along with the Florida Marlins, and El Zol 95 have joined the efforts to create a fun and memorable day for the city's children. Lunch will be provided thanks to Milam's Markets, La Mia Supermarkets, The Thelma Gibson Health Initiative, the Children's Trust, Vina and Son, CAMACOL and Ricky Arepas.’

Sponsors for the event include: The Hispanic Officers Association, the Coconut Grove Jaycees, the Rotary Club of Coconut Grove, VALSAN, Standard Parking, Pointe Group Advisors, and the Miami Dolphins.

Registration for the backpack giveaway is now closed. Only registered children will be given lunch and backpacks.
