Physical Ability Test
The Firefighter Physical Ability Test is a
physically intense process. It is highly recommended
that you give yourself ample time to train – even
if you consider yourself to be physically fit.
The Physical Ability Test consists of four timed
events that require candidates to perform
simulations of important tasks that are a part of a
Firefighter’s job. The events require strength,
endurance and coordination, and include the
following:
A) Stair Climbing Simulation
B) Charged Hose Pull
C) Forcible Entry and Ventilation
D) Fire Extinguishing and Rescue |
Each event is scored as Pass/Fail.
Soon you will be able to download the Firefighter Physical Ability Test
Training Manual. This manual is designed to
assist potential candidates in preparing for the
Physical Ability component of the entry-level
examination process for the position of City of
Miami Firefighter by giving suggestions on how to
prepare and pass. You may also pick up a copy of the
Physical Ability Test Training Manual at the City of
Miami Employment Office once you have submitted a
completed application.
