WRITTEN EXAMINATION INFORMATION
To receive hiring consideration, all applicants must
first receive a passing score on the City of Miami’s
written examination. The written examination
consists of two parts, and is designed to simulate
the learning tasks required of candidates at the
City of Miami Fire Training Center. The exam will
measure the ability to read and understand written
material and to understand verbal communication from
others. Additional points to the exam score may
be awarded with proof of the following:

• Veteran’s Preference
• State of Florida Firefighter Certification
• State of Florida Paramedic Certification
• State of Florida EMT Certification

Applicants will be mailed written notification of
the date, time and location of the examination after
the closing date of the current recruitment. In the
meantime, applicants who submit a complete
application at the City of Miami Employment Office
will be provided a study guide(s) to assist in
preparing for the written examination. Use the time
before the examination wisely. Prepare! Prepare!
