Agendas

This board, comprised of 7 members and 2 alternate, usually meets 3 times a month at 5:00 PM at Miami City Hall and its purpose is generally:

  • To issue orders having the force of law commanding whatever steps are necessary to bring a code violation into compliance.

Our department typically processes code violations to the Zoning Ordinance, the Miami City Code, the South Florida Building Code and the Fire Prevention Code, for example:

  • Encroachment in Setbacks
  • Failure to Maintain Exterior Surface of Building
  • Illegal Units
  • No Adequate Means of Egress
  • No Certificate of Use
  • No Valid Occupational Licenses
  • Working without a Permit

The deadline for cases placed on the regular agenda is usually 30 days in advance, when the inspector subpoenas the violator. Extensions of time and mitigated cases on the special agenda are also approximately 30 days. This department schedules and organizes:

  • Agendas
  • Cases
  • Collection of all Fees
  • Enforcement Orders, which upon recordation in the public records of Miami-Dade County, will constitute a lien
  • Meetings
  • Notices
  • Releases of Liens
