The Miami Office of Sustainable Initiatives (MSI) coordinates the City's environmental programs to ensure the City of Miami becomes a model for environmental best practices.

MSI also manages the City's compliance to the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement — an agreement entered into by the City of Miami, along with many other cities across the United States in 2006, endorsing the Kyoto Protocol and its mandates.
