About

Recognizing its acute vulnerability to the effects of sea level rise (SLR), in 2015 the City of Miami established its Sea Level Rise Committee. Its purpose it to study the effects of SLR on the City and recommend changes to City policy to help better combat the deleterious effects of SLR. The Committee meets monthly in the Commission Chambers at Miami City Hall.


Mission and Vision

To study sea level rise and its effect on the City of Miami and make recommendations to the City Commission for increasing the City’s resilience to rising sea levels.

WAYNE M. PATHMAN

Chair

Co-founder and managing partner of the firm, Wayne M. Pathman is one of the state’s distinguished lawyers with more than 30 years experience. Mr. Pathman heads the firm’s Land Use, Zoning, and Environmental Law Section.


David Martin

Member

As President and Co-founder of Miami-based real estate development firm Terra, David Martin leads some of South Florida’s most impactful real estate developments with an emphasis on neighborhood-building, design and resiliency.


Patrick Rynne

Member

Dr. Patrick Rynne is a marine scientist, ocean engineer and science outreach specialist. He completed his undergraduate education in Material Engineering from Brown University, earned a Master of Science degree in Ocean Engineering from Florida Atlantic University, and a Ph.D in Applied Marine Physics from the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science.


Reinaldo Borges

Reinaldo Borges is the Founder and Principal of Borges + Associates Architects, a leading design and architecture firm headquartered in Miami, Florida. Throughout his 25+ year career, Borges has put his stamp on iconic developments throughout Southern Florida and the Middle East.


Frances Colon

Member

Dr. Frances Colón is the CEO of Jasperi Consulting, a boutique firm that provides science, environment and technology policy advice to higher education institutions as well as state and national-level policy-makers.


Albert Gomez

Member

Albert Gomez studied environmental sciences at Florida International University, with a concentration in environmental geology, with a certificate in transect quadrant surveying. He has achieved degrees in Marketing, International Business, and a certificate for Latin American studies from the Latin American and Caribbean Center.

Pete Gomez is a highly motivated and enthusiastic Fire Service professional with a specialty in the field of Emergency Management. With over 32 years of experience in every aspect of the Fire Service. Pete brings a very well rounded perspective and wealth of experience to any organization.


Kilan Bishop

Member

Kilan Bishop is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Miami, where she is completing her dissertation research studying genetic factors that influence triple negative breast cancer development and progression. .
